Indian cricket squad for ICC Champions Trophy has been announced on 8th May.
The Indian selectors went in with a tried and tested side, banking on the right mix of experience and youth, playing it safe with no surprise inclusions. Virat Kohli will lead the side that will kick start their title defense against Pakistan on June 4 in Edgbaston.
Here are the probable XI and their IPL 2017 statistics so far.
1. Rohit Sharma
Rohit came back to Indian side after 5 months due to a thigh injury.
He scored 255 runs in this years IPL in 13 matches with an average of 23.18.
2. Shikhar Dhawan
Highest run scorer in previous Champions trophy, Shikhar Dhawan is having a wonderful IPL so far.
He scored 450 runs from 12 matches with pretty decent strike rate.
3. Virat Kohli
The Indian skipper is having a bad year in IPL.
RCB, lead by Virat Kohli are at the bottom of the point table.
He hadn't played early matches in IPL2017.
He scored 250 runs in 9 matches
4. Yuvraj Singh
India's veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh holds an integral position in the Team India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The southpaw, returns to play in the Champions Trophy after an 11-year absence.
He started this year's IPL with a Man of the match award but couldn't get the momentum later on.
He has 243 Runs in 11 matches with an average of 27.78.
5. M S Dhoni
Recent status of former Indian captain is not too good. He managed only one half-century so far in this year's IPL.
6. Manish Pandey / Kedar Jadav
Manish Pandey scored 363 runs from 13 matches.
Kedar Jadav has 255 runs from 12 matches
7. Ravindra Jadeja
No. 1 bowler in test cricket, Ravindra Jadeja has included in the squad as slow left arm tail ender.
He has 138 IPL runs and 5 wickets from 11 matches played so far.
8. R Ashwin
No surprise in the inclusion of R Ashwin to the Champions Trophy side.
R Ashwin played no IPL matches this year and he is being rested for the Champions trophy.
9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Most wicket taker in IPl 2017.
He has 23 wickets so far in this year's IPL.
10. Umesh Yadav
14 wickets in 11 matches, Umesh Yadav is a wicket taker but leaks runs in death overs.
His economy rate in this year's IPL is 8.58 per over.
11. Jasprit Bumrah
Plays under Lasith Malinga in Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah is a complete package of yorkers and slow balls.
His economy rate in IPL 2017 is just 7.66 runs per over.
